UTICA SHORTHAIR POINTER WINS INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The German Shorthair Pointer Champion, Fritz V. Schlossgarten won the International Championship Title at Hamilton, Ontario Saturday, July 13th; and thus became the first Shorthair in America's history to annex this honor.

Fritz was born March 27th, 1938. In april, 1940 he started his field trial career in winning first in the Derby at Solon Springs, Wisconsin. Later he has run in the Open All Age Stake where he also placed first; defeating America's most outstanding dogs and imported dogs from Germany.

From Minnesota, Fritz went to Saskatchewan, Canada for more training on the prarie. From Saskatchewan he came to Michigan and started his show career. Fritz was campaigned in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin and then went on the circuit in Georgia, Florida and Alabama where he finished his American Championship. From Georgia he returned to Michigan once more and then started his career in Canada.

Fritz first showed in Hamilton in 1945 where he went Winner's Dog and Best of Breed.

This spring when shown in London again he went Best of Breed. Several weeks later he was shown in Toronto and again went Best of Breed, and finally on July 13th he was shown in Hamilton again where he finished as Best of Breed and acquired the rest of the required points to become International Champion.

Fritz has been handled by his owner and belongs to Hjalmar Olsen and son.

Utica can boast of being the home of the only International German Shorthaired Pointer Champion in America and as far as we can find out, in the world.
